I am looking towards directing a show next spring and would also have to do all the design work as well, as it is at a small theatre. I was wondering if anyone knows of good places across the States to rent theatrical costumes? I'm stationed in Texas and seeing as I'm on a budget, would most likely only rent 5-7 outfits for my principles. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Look into the costume studios @ college Theatre Arts departments.
I studied theatre at the University of New Mexico, and our costume department kept a massive “morgue” of wardrobe items from seemingly every stage production ever mounted @ UNM. Interested parties were allowed to affordably rent those costumes year-round, and it was an enormous resource in the community.
Here are 3 ideas to pursue in north/central Texas (hopefully not too far from you):

Also, there are probably some great costumers in your area, try seeing if they would like to donate their services and make costumes, people love getting involved!
