Ok, first and foremost, yes, I do have references and real data to back up everything that I'm about to say, all you have to do is ask.
*AHEM*
JUST SAY NO TO CARBON CREDITS!
Former Vice President Al Gore has made some lofty claims about the end of the world and global warming and our evil ways through his movie and books, and alot of people fell for it. They fell for it because:
1. It was scary. Scary things get people's attention. People are far more likely to listen to something scary because they are afraid of being punished if they don't heed the warning.
2. It came from an authorative source. Al Gore was VICE PRESIDENT of the United States, and had GRAPHS, and DATA, and SCIENTISTS. People believe him because he appears to be speaking from a place of authority.
3. It's everywhere. From the movie theatre, to the bookstore, to every TV station, to all of your friends, to internet forums, the global warming scare is everywhere.
Carbon Credits?!!? WTF!?!?concert tickets
Thanks for the great info. Do you have links?
The notion of these carbon "indulgences" is absurd.
The analogy I've always used is if PETA accepted donations to allow people to club baby seals. While at the same time lobbied to prevent Inuits from doing the same.
It is a HUGE scam. Check this out:

"There are doubts about the validity of some of these CERs, on two separate grounds. First, some of them appear to breach the CDM's requirements for sustainable development - 53% of the existing CERs come from just six monster projects, in India, China and South Korea, all of which engage in the most controversial form of carbon reduction. They manufacture refrigerant which produces as a side effect a gas called HFC-23. Although carbon dioxide is the most common greenhouse gas, HFC-23 is 11,700 times more likely than carbon dioxide to encourage global warming. Refrigerant companies find it relatively cheap to instal an incinerator to burn the HFC-23 and, once that is converted into certified reductions of emission, each tonne saved can be sold as 11,700 carbon credits. These companies are now earning millions of euros from these credits - more than from selling their refrigerant products.
The environmental problem is two-fold, first that HFC factories tend to pour out other pollutants which don't happen to be greenhouse gases but which are unpleasant or dangerous for local communities; and second, that the potential profits from burning HFC-23 are so great that companies are being encouraged to expand production of refrigerants so they can produce more HFC-23 to incinerate, thus increasing the net amount of pollution."
It wouldn't be hard to envision companies setting up carbon-credit "laundering" schemes in undeveloped countries, producing a product that they will be paid to destroy with a CO2 mark-up of 11,700 times, then turning around and selling (themselves) the carbon credits, and then continuing to pollute at the "home" factory.
It's a LOSE-LOSE-LOSE situation.
The environment near the "laundering" front is damaged.
The environment near the "home" manufacturer continues to be polluted, unabated.
Consumers will bear greater costs as companies will pass along the "cost" of the carbon-credits the company sold itself.
And if there was any doubt the type of unethical business practices are at the heart of this:

Carbon Credits?!!? WTF!?!?theater seating opera theater
The carbon credit idea will give way to a carbon tax. Either one will make everything cost more and further erode ranks of the middle class. Environmentalists want our population to be reduced by 90% and they want everyone to live like third world peasants and then beg government for help with everything we need.
It used to be that Americans were good at making things affordable for everyone. This is how middle classes are created. Now, they want to make everything expensive. This is how middle classes are decimated.
Well..........Al Gore is a politician.
He is a hypocrite at best, untruthful, power mad, and has never held a real job.
Scumbag is a word that comes to mind.
I don't think it's about money, it's about power %26amp; control, (money is a means to power %26amp; control, so maybe it is about money.........as it relates to power and control.)
The real irony is the "majority" or scientists agree on global warming. Is this like the "majority" or scientists at the time of Copernicus agreeing that the earth was the center of the universe and everything revolved around us?
The "scientists" of Copernicus' day were wrong, so, I suspect, will the current group be found.
Has our government become the new Catholic church, is Al Gore one of the new bishops? (or is this a topic for the religion %26amp; spirituality section?)
