5.) what battles did general grant (union) and his troops fight during 1864 and 1865? who won each of thease battles?

Here are my answers off the top of the dome ...

1. Most of the major battles were fought in the eastern theatre: Fort Sumpter, Manassas (1st and 2nd), Antietam, Gettysburg, Fredericksburg, The Wilderness, etc.

2. Initially it was in the west by their splitting of the confederacy by gaining control of the Mississippi (New Orleans, Vicksburg). Shiloh, Corinth.

3. Invasions were attempted into Pennsylvania (Gettysburg) and Maryland (Antietam).

4. Georgia and South Carolina

5. The Wilderness/Seven Pines, Cold Harbor, Spotlysvania Courthouse, Richmond, Appomattox

Hint--Eastern Theatre were battles fought in VA, GA NC, SC and other states like that. Tenn is considered to be the Western Theatre of Operations as is Vicksburg and Texas.
