What is the youngest age an adult can be to let children watch a r rated movie?

it is 17 to get in an r rated movie. i have a friend who is not yet 17 but wants to watch the movie "hostel" with me. im 20. is the age limit 21 to buy more than 1 ticket? i've been to a couple websites (amx theaters, mpaa, etc) but all of them say R movies allow children with parent or guardian blah blah blah. im thinking ok...what the freak just tell me how old the "parent/guardian" is suppose to be. i understand different states and countries have different age requirements. anyways, i live in virginia. the theatres in my area are very strict on id requirement. they check when u give your ticket in.

Do they even check IDs? If not, just go to the movie with your friend and don't mention ages.

It's most likely 21 to take a minor to an R rated movie.

Though it also most likely depends on the contents of "Hostel", since some R rated movies hardly deserve to be rated as such.
